Programs Are In Danger
Conservation Districts and Forestry Programs In Trouble
Governor Granholms 2007 fiscal year budget cuts in half the funding for our State of Michigan
Conservation Districts. The 2008 budget eliminates all funding for the conservation districts and for the
Forestry Programs throughout the State.
Already this year many districts have already cut hours, with some laying off staff and others already
closing their doors. We cannot afford to abandon the conservation of our forests, fields and waters in this
State. Eliminating the Conservation Districts will dangerously impair our ability to safeguard these
resources for our children.
Please contact your State legislators today and let them know that you want them to
preserve the valuable services that our Conservation Districts and our Forestry
Programs supply to us. Call, email and write them today.
